20 May 2026 Relapse to the Mean

It has been years since I last wrote on this blog. And in those years so much has happened. I decided that I felt weak at one point and needed to begin eating meat again. That lead to eating pretty much anything and everything,.. and now… back to 279 lbs 😦

So, one thing that’s happened is a big move. We moved from my beloved desert to a rainy, coastal town in Oregon. Last weekend I went to meet some old friends in Utah and hiked Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park. Living these last 3 years at sea level and then hiking at 8000ft above, about killed my sedentary overweight arse. I had fun, but three days of a few miles a day was a lot. And I saw later some pics of myself, not good! Not good at all! I’ll spare the readers any pictures, let’s just say the elephant expedition at the zoo should service as a good replacement.

Anyway, on to bigger and better. I’m reading some of my old posts and remembering what I was eating, what I was doing and the weight that was falling off. I have an event at the end of June that I would like to be 25-30 lbs lighter by then and ready to ride my GS offroad better than ever.

How will this work? Well, I know from the last time that what I eat is far more important than how hard I work out. So, I’m digging up the old recipes, baking some potatoes and making a shopping list. It’s time to make a batch of Chana Masala, some rice and be ready to be disciplined enough to pay attention.

If anyone still reads this,.. I hope you’ll come along for the ride. It should be fun.
