Day 28 255.0 lbs

Despite having run yesterday, and eaten very little, I gained 2 tenths of a pound. While this might feel really bad, even infuriating for a moment. I had to remind myself that running can make your body retain some level of fluid and only once the body gets the hint that everything is OK, no fight or flight required, it will release what’s been held back. So, now 9 tenths of a pound away from 20, I have to relax, watch the food and take in lots of fluids to help flush the body. It’s days like this which require faith in the plan and tenacity of purpose. There’s no doubt it’s working, so relax and keep playing the game. Writing this blog helps me to put things in perspective. Combined I’ve lost 21 pounds in 30 days, since my last birthday when I turned 49. Not all bad.

Today I’ll need to make a Whole Foods run at lunch to get salad and fruit. I don’t have anything left after giving it all to my daughter for her lunch this morning. That’s OK too, because I can figure out dinner for us both while I’m there. No guessing, and no eating out. Always in control, at least for now until a major milestone is reached and I’ll be willing to splurge and try some pizza again. I find that it’s not meat I miss, it’s pizza! Real, bad-for-you white crust and sauce with cheese and even onions and olives would make a fantastic rare and appropriate. At least in my mind I’ve cooked it up as such. I hope once I try that out it’s a disaster and I never want to go back, in a small way anyway. If it’s not,.. ugh,.. In any case I’ll make sure it’s not a big deal. Enjoy it for what it is and what it isn’t, healthy food. Empty calories that cause a lot more harm than good.
