Day 27 254.8 lbs

Today is Monday and I had a pretty darn good weekend of eating and biking. As of this morning I am 7 tenths of a pound away from a full 20 pound loss this month. I will not deviate from the plan and that 20 pound mark in one calendar month will be mine!

I am astonished as to how this weight continues to come off, truly! Never before has it been like this, as though my body wants to leave the weight behind in favor of being more lean. I don’t feel deprived often and I know once I get a lot closer to the final goal I’ll go have a pizza, or mode likely a couple slices but right now, getting off this train isn’t going to happen.

What is more important is my better half is down almost 10 this month, and she’s looking better than ever! Clear skin and vibrant looking. I can’t wait to see her achieve her goals too and it’s so fun to do this together.

I spent almost 3 hours on the bike Saturday morning. What a treat! The bike feels fast and light under me and as I get lighter it’s only going to get more fun and faster. That’s a real thrill and a major shift from enjoying the ride to being thrilled to ride more. I have no illusions about winning races or anything. I’m 49 years old, have limited experience racing the bike, and would still need to get down to my goal weight and train like mad to be competitive at all. That doesn’t mean I wont sign up to do some racing though, but I don’t expect to do all that well.

One thing I am noticing is that even riding hard or running, the muscle soreness isn’t there. Sure fatigue is real, but the two day lag in being sore and unable to walk or take a down staircase isn’t there at all. Just the contrary, I feel fresh the second day after a run or ride, ready for more. Recovery is better than I ever expected, and far better than I’d even hoped. As I get more into being active again, I can’t wait to see how efficiently I can recover from a sustained effort. Time will tell.

I prepped food this week. Washed lots of salad and made a big pot of chili. Claire made chickpea tikka masala, aka comfort food so this is going to be a week of salads for lunch and dinner with some post salad beans of one type or another. I hope to continue to see the same results I’ve seen thus far.

I have a run scheduled tonight while my daughter is at volleyball practice, and I wont be pushing hard at all. Target HR is 130 +/- 10 BPM so it’s not going to be a fast run at all.
