It has been 13 days now and according to the withing app on my phone I’ve lost 12.9 lbs this month, and half a pound yesterday. The wfpb way seems to be the way towards getting to what would be a normal body weight. How did it take so long to find this way of eating? Easy! Bad food gets into you and makes you want it, like a crazy lover that’s great in bed and turns your life upside down. You know you shouldn’t go back but you grow accustomed to the crazy and the reward is unbelievable, so you do it. Until you can’t, or the reward isn’t enough anymore. Then maybe it’s time to disembark the crazy train.

I got a wild hair yesterday and decided to try a recipe I’d been working on in my head. Mango salsa lettuce wraps with quinoa. I have to say it was good, really good for a first attempt and a creative recipe. I think it lacked some type of sauce, tamari or something might help it a tiny bit because the grain takes something to make it work. Claire and I talked about making the salsa the main draw and using the quinoa as more of a garnish, but even then it lacks a light sauce or something to help it along. Possibly a tiny bit of sea salt and fresh lime juice would have really brought this to life. There’s something magical about the mango and jalapeno coming together to make a sweet and spicy though, and that salsa works! Mango, red onion, jalapeno, serrano and scallion. So good!
I also made some oat clusters, at least that’s what Dillon on Well Your World calls them. It’s dates, bananas, oats, vanilla and chocolate chips. I like to add a pinch of sea salt to mine, right on top before you bake them to get the salt hit as you bit into it. It’s not all that much sodium really. Another delicious use of oats. I really like oats, possibly natures nearest perfect food.
I think I will run this evening while my daughter is at volleyball practice. It’ll give me a way to off gas after the stress of being at the office. Target HR is 120 and I’ll try to keep it there for about 40 min or so. I like being active, and as the mountain bike showed me, I don’t have to sit around and wait to lose weight. Doing things wont hurt my loss efforts, if anything, it’ll help a bit. Maybe one I understand the NDA pathway I can start to write about what I understand, but for now let’s say the NDA pathway is the body’s mechanism to burn fat, and it’s truly only activated by exercise or fasting. That’s about all I know about it, but those two things seem to be most true.
